The Friends of LLELA invites you to their Summer Lecture Series: Snack Like a Naturalist
Nature has a pantry—if you know what you’re looking for. In this lecture, we’ll share ideas for recipes, discuss the cultural history of local wild foods, explore how to forage ethically without leaving a trace, and (most importantly) how to identify native edible plants. Afterwards, you can join us on a short walk on the Blackjack Trail to observe local edible plants in their natural habitat, if weather allows. You’ll leave with plant ID know-how, a few recipe ideas, and the unshakable urge to yell “IT’S FORAGE O’CLOCK!” every time you see a patch of dewberries.
This event is free but registration is required due to limited seating. Please register here. Admission to LLELA is $5/vehicle via credit or debit card only; no cash, American Express, or tap to pay accepted.
