The Parks & Recreation Scholarship Program is open year-round to community members of all ages who wish to participate in various classes and programs offered through Play Lewisville. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and vibrant community by supporting opportunities for all individuals to participate in enriching recreational programs. Our scholarship program reflects our belief that recreation and learning are essential to personal growth, wellness, and community connection, and we strive to make these experiences accessible to everyone through ongoing fundraising and support efforts. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to engage in enriching recreational activities, regardless of financial circumstances.

Who Can Apply?

The scholarship program is open to everyone, with preference given to applicants who reside in Lewisville.

What does it cover?

What Does It Cover?

Eligible programs include:

Camps (e.g., Summer, seasonal, and holiday camps)
Beginner Sports (e.g., Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball)
Group Swim Lessons (Levels 1–3)
Memberships (Thrive, LLELA, Herring Recreation Center)
Special Events

Scholarship funds will NOT cover:

Facility rentals
Additional program supplies
Daily facility admission
Childwatch services
Programs that require a "team fee"

How Long Does It Last?

Scholarships are valid for one calendar year and expire on December 31 of the year they are awarded. Applications must be fully completed to be considered.

Guidelines

Recipients will receive a scholarship covering 90% of the program fee. The remaining 10% must be paid by the participant.
Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to first-time participants and those seeking to participate in a program for the first time.
The number of scholarships awarded may vary each year based on available funds.
All applications and provided information will be kept private and confidential.

How is it funded?

Funding:

The program is funded by the Lewisville Park Alliance (link: https://www.lewisvilleparkalliance.org/) whose purpose is to "drive key projects to support the Lewisville Parks & Recreation Department vision, as well as helping fund youth sponsorships for the park affiliated programs and membership.

LPA

The program is also funded by the Friends of LLELA (link: https://www.friendsofllela.org/) whose goal is help in the overall operation of the LLELA through sponsoring events, helping fund projects and raising the awareness of LLELA as an asset to the community and surrounding area.
